ADHD and executive functioning:
Coaching and Support
ADHD & Executive Functioning Coaching
Helping Students Build the Skills They Need to Succeed
For students with ADHD or executive functioning challenges, academic success is often about much more than understanding the material. A student may be bright and capable yet struggle with getting started, staying organized, managing time, completing assignments, studying effectively, or keeping track of everything school requires.
As an Educational Therapist, I work individually with students to strengthen these essential skills while providing practical support for their current academic demands.
My goal is not simply to help students get through tonight’s homework. It is to help them develop strategies, confidence, and independence that can support them throughout school and beyond.
How I Can Help
Educational therapy and executive functioning coaching can support students who struggle with:
Organization and keeping track of assignments
Time management and planning ahead
Starting and completing tasks
Procrastination and feeling overwhelmed
Prioritizing multiple assignments and responsibilities
Breaking large projects into manageable steps
Study skills and test preparation
Maintaining attention and focus
Working memory and remembering instructions
Developing effective routines and systems
Self-advocacy and communicating with teachers
Building greater academic independence
Academic Support With a Bigger Purpose
Sessions are individualized around each student's needs. We may work with real assignments, upcoming tests, long-term projects, grades, school portals, calendars, and other academic responsibilities while simultaneously building the executive functioning skills behind them.
This allows students to receive the academic support they need right now while learning strategies they can eventually use independently.
Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all organizational system, I help students identify approaches that work with their individual learning style, strengths, challenges, and school environment.
More Than Tutoring
Traditional tutoring generally focuses on teaching a particular academic subject. Educational therapy looks more broadly at the skills and learning processes that influence a student's success across subjects.
When appropriate, our work may address both academic skills and executive functioning—helping a student understand not only what they need to do, but also how to successfully approach and complete it.
For students with ADHD, this can be especially important. Difficulty with executive functioning can affect performance even when a student understands the material and has the ability to succeed.
Building Confidence and Independence
Repeated struggles with missing assignments, procrastination, poor test preparation, or falling behind can affect how students see themselves as learners.
A supportive educational therapy relationship gives students a place to develop strategies without judgment, recognize their strengths, and experience success.
Over time, the goal is for students to become more confident in their ability to:
Plan. Organize. Prioritize. Follow through. Advocate for themselves. And take greater ownership of their education.
